The Problem

A crisis the current system cannot solve

Demand has outstripped supply. Waitlists stretch months. Stigma still silences millions. Leigheas (pronounced "LEE-US"), the Gaelic word for healing, begins where the prescription pad ends.

1 in 5

U.S. adults experience mental illness in a given year.

0K+

Americans die by suicide each year — the #3 cause of death for ages 15–24.

0%

of U.S. veterans experience mental illness; PTSD is endemic. 20 veterans die by suicide per day.

0K+

additional practitioners are needed in the U.S. to meet current demand.

Today's Care

Pharmaceuticals and short-term outpatient therapy

  • Medication manages symptoms but rarely resolves the underlying condition.
  • Waitlists for outpatient providers routinely exceed 3–6 months.
  • Social, spiritual, and behavioral dimensions of suffering are left unaddressed.
Our Solution

A structured, immersive, community-based environment for the whole person

  • Time and space to disengage from the environment that produced the illness.

  • Peer cohort community: belonging is one of the most powerful protective factors in Recovery.

  • Frontier neuroscience integrated with spiritual formation and life skills.

Our Response

Depression is BioPsychoSocial
So is our response

Depression, anxiety, and PTSD arise from a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social conditions. Lasting recovery requires all three — not one.

Equine Therapy

Equine therapy aids emotional regulation and self-awareness, encourages mindfulness and grounding, and increases self-esteem through non-judgmental interactions between the horse and the participant.

Explore the experience

Come recalibrate. Strip away the messages of the world. Reconnect — to the earth, to nature, to your soul. Grow the relationships between them. Commune. Find health and expression.

And while you're at it, eat food that actually makes you feel good!

You are not alone.

Come as you are. We will find your cohort.

Don't see yourself here?

If you do not identify with one of these groups, we would still welcome the conversation.

The Rhythm

A day at Leigheas

  5. Reflection

    Spiritual growth and mindfulness

At Leigheas, gratitude is practiced upon the rising and setting of the sun and throughout each day. Residents grow in the knowledge and comfort that the God who made them understands and accepts them as they are. God is always present to walk with them through the current moment and into the next. Letting go of the struggles and strifes of modern life is possible through prayer and meditation.

Expressive Therapies · In Practice

The arts allow expression,
when language fails

Art therapy is one of the Center's core expressive modalities. Every cohort culminates in a shared showing of the work by their own hands — a physical record of what happened in the weeks together, and a piece of their story participants carry home.

Companion Practices
